Giving comes in many forms! Check out the ways you, your corporation or your school can help people take a break from cancer!
Make a donation in memory of a love one, or in honor of someone's birthday, anniversary or wedding! Your gift will give the gift of time to families facing cancer. All honor and memorial donations are listed in our yearly annual report. You may also request that we send a letter or an email to the person you are honoring, or the family of someone who you are memorializing. Click here to donate now
You can open your doors to a family facing cancer! Although For Pete's Sake owns a respite home in Florida, we rely on the donations of privately-owned homes in order to provide additional safe and comfortable locations for our respite vacations. Home owners are able to donate their home(s) for a week or more for patients to enjoy. Donors may offer their homes during a time that is most convenient for them.
Donating a home brings so much more than just a vacation to the patients of For Pete's Sake; it is truly a long-awaited escape that brings joy, love and relaxation to those who need it most. It is through these vacations that patients are able to leave the stresses of cancer at the door and find time to strengthen their most important relationships in a carefree environment. Our Backpack Buddies program is the perfect way for kids to help other kids. Started by Gwynedd Mercy Academy Elementary, this initiative focuses on kids who travel in our program with their ill parent. We provide the Backpack and you do the rest: stuff it with your favorite travel items (games, crayons, etc.) and then raise some Travel Fun Money to help pay for the fun things kids will do on the trip, from eating ice cream cones to having lunch with Mickey. You will be matched with a child traveling that is similar in age to you so it is unique and personal way to truly touch another's life! Learn more here (PDF | DOC). E-mail Marci Schankweiler at email@example.com if your school would like to participate.
Corporate Caring Program
Started by Phillips Corporation in 2011, this program is a comprehensive collaboration between any private company and FPS. Company employees make a monthly contribution to FPS which is then matched by the employer up to a certain dollar value. Employees then are engaged at a personal level to help out with drives to collect items used by FPS families, fun "fundraisers" with customers, colleagues, etc. Companies help spread the word about the FPS mission and impact, can use FPS labels and logo on corporate correspondence and develop other customizable ways to engage both employees and customers. This program is fun and flexible! For more information, contact Marci Schankweiler at firstname.lastname@example.org.
P.S. If your employer participates in United Way you may designate FPS as your charity of choice. To make a donation to us directly, designate us on your donor form in Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey by our DONOR NUMBER 12978. For other United Way agencies, simply write in "For Pete's Sake" and indicate our office location of Plymouth Meeting, PA.

Can you spare a few pennies ad nickels? How about some dime and quarters? Before you know it, you'll have a dollar! Watch your dollars add up and then be used by FPS to put smiles on lots of faces of moms and dads, big kids and little kids, sisters and brothers, friends and neighbors, as those touched by cancer get to take a respite vacation - a break, to live, love and laugh together.
